Happy February to Everyone!
The beginning of this year has been exceptionally busy and productive.
On the 19th of January, I hosted a research seminar titled Multilingualism and Inclusion: Shaping Educational Practices for Newly Arrived Migrant Students. This event showcased several current research projects from the Faculty of Teacher Education and Pedagogy at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences.
Moreover, I have dedicated myself to working on several publications that explore these topics:
- The perspectives of Norwegian student teachers on collaboration with families of a transnational background (co-authored with my colleague Vander Tavares);
- Norwegian student teachers’ reflections on and experiences with reception of newly arrived immigrant schoolchildren (co-authored with my colleague Marianne Eek);
- Experiences of Icelandic student teachers with culturally responsive teaching methods (single-authored by myself);
- Icelandic teachers’ strategies for supporting children’s plurilingual development in compulsory schools (a joint effort with several colleagues from the research group Language Policies and Practices of Diverse Immigrant Families in Iceland).
I am also pleased to announce that one of my articles has been accepted for publication in the McGill Journal of Education. The article is titled “She said that I was a pattern-breaker”: Career aspirations and challenges for students of a transnational background in teacher education in Denmark and is scheduled for publication later this year in a special issue Preparing Teachers for Diversity in the Neoliberal and Neoconservative “North”.
This work, along with others, will be shared on this webpage as part of my blog.
